20/05/2009 : Final entries confirmed for European Cup Race Walking
French star Yohann Diniz, the 2007 World Championship silver medallist over 50km will defend his 20km title won two years ago and ensure that the large French crowds will be present over the 2km circuit in Metz.
The entry lists for the men's 50km and 20km, the women's 20km and the junior men's and women's 10km are available below and in the rubric “Start Lists”.

07/05/2009 : Schwazer prefers Cracovy to Metz
Beijing Olympic champion of the 50km race walking, Italian Alex Schwazer, will not participate to the European Cup Race Walking on May 24th in Metz. His choice goes to the more profitable 10km of the following Sunday in Cracow. In Poland, Schwazer is invited to the Feast of Race Walking, a popular event organized by the national hero Robert Korzeniowski, quadruples Olympic champion of the discipline. The Italian of the High Adige (northeast), 24-year-old, will make a single test on its favourite distance, on June 28th in Dublin, before Berlin World Championship in August.
In the absence of Elisa Rigaudo, bronze medal-holder to the JO on 20km, the squadra will be represented in Metz by the specialist men of the 20km, Ivano Brugnetti, golden medal to JO of Athens 2004, and young Giorgio Rubino.

27/04/2009 : 8th European Cup Race Walking : French Selection

18 French race walkers will take part to the 8th European Cup Race Walking in Metz on Sunday, May 24th 2009. It is a conquering team, lead by Yohann Diniz, who will defend its chances in Lorraine on a 2km course in front of Metz station.

05/04/2009 : Plätzer stays top at the Race Walking Challenge in Rio Maior
Norwegian Olympic silver medalist Kjersti Plätzer successfully defended her title at 18th Grande Premio Internacional en Marcha Atletica in the Portuguese city of Rio Maior, the second leg of the 2009 IAAF Race Walking Challenge. Coming into the second leg as leader after winning the first leg in Chihuahua, Mexico, Platzer did her reputation no harm winning the 20km race clocking 1.30:35, just before the home athletes Vera Santos (second in 1.30:49) and Ines Henriques (third in 1.31:05).
In the men's section, Chinese Olympic fourth placer Hao Wang won the race clocking 1:19:27 (PB). The second place came to Italian Giorgio Rubino, who registered a sensational second fastest time 1:19:37 ever for an Italian. Erik Tysse of Norway, brother of Platzer, clocked a superb 1:19:44 to claim the third place.
After two races of the IAAF Race Walking Challenge Platzer remains the leader in the women's category, while Sanchez (MEX) leads the challenge in men's section.

28/03/2009 : Yohann Diniz in great form beats his 50km race walking national record !
Announced in Slovakia, at Dudince, to prepare himself to the 50km race walking, Yohann Diniz showed that the Olympic page had been totally turned. Yohann indeed imposed in the time of 3.38.44 and thus deduct almost 3 minutes to his previous French record (3.41.39 during its European title in Goteborg in 2006).
The athletic season of Yohann Diniz is launched on a perfect way. His main objectives of this year are the European Cup in Metz on May 24th on 20km and naturally World championships in Berlin in August on 20 and 50km.
